“I am determined to work in a government institution and enjoy the money too” – 60-year-old BECE candidate reveals

60-year-old Elizabeth Yamoah, who is sitting for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), has revealed what her motivation is.

According to her, the joy of working in a government institution coupled with the goodies that come with it is the motivating factor for her to decide to write the BECE at her age.

In an interview with Adom FM, an Accra-based radio station, Elizabeth Yamoah narrated how her education was truncated following the sudden demise of her father which forced her into farming.

However, she said she is poised to see her dreams come to pass irrespective of her age and present circumstances.

“When I was a kid, my father took me to school but I couldn’t continue again after my father died and I had to go into farming. I really wanted to be a nurse but my dream was cut short and because I didn’t want to give up, I decided to go to school at this age so I work in an institution.

“I really want to complete JHS and go to Senior High School (SHS), thanks to free SHS and will start working in a government institution so that I can also enjoy the money because they are spending all the money,” she said.

Elizabeth Yamoah also spoke about her family’s support, the mockery she suffered from younger students at the initial stages and the love the school has shown her.
